Hey there! I'm Carlie, and I'm delighted to welcome you to my corner of the web. Here's a little bit about me:

​

I have a diverse background that includes being a two-sport college athlete which taught me the value of dedication, discipline, and teamwork. These qualities have carried over into my life as a nurse, where every day is a new game, and every coworker is a valued team member in their own unique way.

​

My academic journey has been equally diverse, with degrees in both Cell Biology and Neuroscience as well as Nursing. Whew... enough of all that boring stuff for a while! Every day, I have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients, but also my own as I am always learning. This is important to me.

​

Beyond my scrubs and gym shoes, I have a passion for the kitchen. I have a high appreciation for delicious flavors and just...darn good food. In my opinion, there is no exception for anything but exceptional at a restaurant. My main focus these days is a balanced plate that is carbohydrate dense and protein rich to promote muscle growth to sustain my fitness goals. Foods can taste great and still be healthy. I feel like a lot of people forget this. Or go too HAM on the healthy foods and then get burnt out. No chicken and rice on repeat for me!!

If you haven't guessed, staying active is a big part of my lifestyle. Whether it's hitting the gym, practicing yoga, or hiking in the great outdoors, I relish any opportunity to move my body and stay fit. My love for fitness and health drives me to explore the latest trends, tips, and techniques (even though I kind of hate to admit that, as I do not think of myself as a trend setter). My goal is to help you on your own wellness journey.

 

Also in my spare time, you'll often find me doing a multitude of odd hobbies. Whether that is tending to my houseplants, designing random things on my laser engraver (Click here to see my blog about my first Etsy sale!), selling items on ebay, or just something else that I found earlier that day, I somehow keep really busy.

I've also faced my own challenges, including a recent battle with a Lisfranc injury. It's given me firsthand insight into the world of healthcare from both sides. My experiences have deepened my commitment to nursing, but have also opened my eyes to how important health and wellness is. And this is true at any age, not just when we get older. I have a gut feeling that I broke my foot in the first place because I was a little out of shape, wore worn out shoes, and was not properly nutritioned. I am constantly learning more and more about my body and my life and I would not give up any of my experiences for a second. 

​

This blog is where all these interests and experiences collide. Here, I'll share insights into nursing, wellness, inner work, cooking, fitness, relationship advice, and maybe a few stories about my wild adventures of naturally curly hair. My goal is to empower you with knowledge, inspire you to live your best life, and create a community where we can learn, grow, and support each other.
